Acid-Dye Resistance and Peroxcellent
#1
Brian and all,

I couldn't wait to give this idea a quickie test.

1. I cut a small scrap of greige goods (undyed, untreated nylon).

2. I then treated one half with Peroxcellent at 10oz per gallon with an exceptional additive that resists acid dyes.

3. I quick dried the scrap and then flooded the entire scrap with Hawaiian Punch RED (has more red dye than red Kool-Aid).

4. I gave it one minute dwell time then flushed the scrap with Hot Running water.

Here is the results which is exactly what I was hoping for and expecting. ONLY the unteated half accepted the Red Dye!

That was just the first of many, many tests, but it passed the initial test with more than flying colors.happy

Be careful what you ask me for Brian.LOL

Wow that's great! Cool

The delivery of the product would be using Peroxcellent as a carrier with the OP method?

So Steve do you expect the dye blockers to have similar life span as competitive acid dye resistor products?

Did you submerse the test piece or spray apply?

Any method would be used including HWE... it only needs a few minutes to set (10). Once it is set you can't rinse it out even with extremely hot Truck Mount.

As for life span question... Yes, I have already went this route before with KleenShield.... KleenShield has better Acid-Dye resistance than the product you said you use for acid-dye protection (I know cuz I used it as a benchmark... KleenShield would never of been released unless it had better acid-dye resistance!)

I think this new idea will be even better! Time and testing will tell of course.

I sprayed the product on for the test Richard.

This idea would basically work the same as our KleenShield... see the KleenShield video.

Brian,

I am sending you a gallon of Acid-Dye additive today for you to test.

If you can get some scrap nylon and destroy the acid dye resistance by spraying it good with Lysol and allowing it to dry that would be great.

Next rinse out the scrap by flooding it with plain water. Now all acid dye resistance should be gone... Test by staining with Hawaiian Punch or Red Kool-aid at double strength... Hawaiian Punch has more Red Dye. If you can't remove the red dye stain with a spotter such as spot-n-boost the acid dye resistance is completely gone.

Then you can test the additive by adding it 4oz per gallon of RTU Peroxcellent.

Spray and clean half of the scrap carpet like you normally would and give it 10 or more minutes dwell before cleaning. Allow to dry and test again with the Punch or Kool-aid. Take plenty of pix for all to see whether it turns out good or bad. We only want the TRUfF (as jIMmY would say).

What say ye Brian????

Steve
P.S. If it works on nylon it will most likely work quite well on wool as well!

It won't come ready mixed, but you can call the RTU mixture whatever you want.

Last time I named a product after someone it was called Pig-OUT... who do you think I named that one after?

Yea but it was my thread, so I'll just pretend I can take a little bit of credit. LOL

I've been thinking for quite some time that I would most likely be using Kleenshield a LOT more if only it could deodorize also. With peroxellent you would get the best of both worlds. dance
